How To Be An Organised Boss Lady

As a student, I was obnoxiously organized. Everything was color coded, written nicely, and my days were planned to the minute. As a #girlboss, I cannot say the same. Why? I have no idea what each day is going to look like. I used to try and plan everything out and stay organized, but if I'm being honest my life is just a bunch of calendars, dry erase boards and post-it notes.

The biggest lesson I have learned being the boss, is to be flexible. Roll with the punches. Even when I have everything organized, something is bound to go wrong. Here are some things that I do to stay organized in the mess that is my life.

1. Write Everything Down

While it might not be in an hourly organized planner, I do write everything down. Make to-do lists, prioritise the items in the list. According to your personality, you can either make daily or weekly plans.

2. Set Goals

I can't stress this one enough. In December, I set goals for myself and my business to complete this year. You know the best part about writing down your goals? Being able to look back and say, "Wow I did that." Whether they are small goals, like getting organized, goal setting can be the difference between success and failure. I make space on all my planners to set daily and weekly goals.

3. Find your Groove

Do you know how many blogs I have read that say that successful women get up early? A lot. But you know what? I'm a successful full time girlboss and I'm a morning person. You don’t have to be a morning person. All I want to say is find that time slot in the day where you are most fresh and attention-focused. I get most of my things done in 3 hours..9.30am-12.30pm.

4. Invest in Rest

Get your sleep girl. Whether you're a night owl or an early bird, you gotta catch some quality zzz's. You'll be so much more productive with a solid 7 hours than if you force yourself to be a morning person and only get a few hours of sleep. My attitude, attention span and productivity is significantly higher on the days followed by a good nights sleep. I go to bed really early 9.00-9.30pm so I get my 9 hours of beauty sleep :)

You deserve a break, too. I promise you do! Even a quick 10 minute walk outside or few minutes away from staring at those screens. Your mind and eyes need a break to get those ideas flowing again. Take some time to stretch, grab some water or a snack. Sitting all day destroys my back, too. It's important to take that time for your whole body, not just the sake of your sanity.
